What Kind Of Cross

WHAT KIND OF CROSS?


What's on my mind Facebook asks? Lately I've been thinking a lot about THE CROSS. I have several crosses I wear. My favorite is silver with black stones at the end of each cross-bar. Down the middle of each piece are sparkling stones. This cross is an eye catcher and I've often received compliments for it's beauty. What a contrast it is to the one described in a favorite hymn of mine: The Old Rugged Cross. I've often imagined that cross as I sang: The cross-bars full of splinters. The cross-bars so rough and ragged and twisted, the pain of lying on it would be intense. I doubt a cross like that one around my neck would bring compliments for its "beauty". I've been wondering if my beautiful cross could possibly desensitized people of the cruelty and the horrible death my LORD experienced on HIS rugged cross. Guess I will give that some thought between now and Easter.
